- Digital Model of Las Cruces Open Pit Mine
Prepared a detailed open pit mine plan for the Las Cruces ore body, located at a depth of between 120 and 210 m using Vulcan software. The mine will be equipped with hydraulic backhoe excavators, 90 and 150 t trucks, drilling rigs and auxiliary equipment. The mine will feed to a hydrometallurgical plant to be built on site, which will produce 66 000 tonnes of copper per year over a lifetime of 15 years.
Provided professional consultancy services to assist in the evaluation and forward planning of all aspects of the working practices at the Boulby mine, Cleveland.
Provided management and technical assistance to the Ministry of Industry in relation to the Abu Tartur Phosphate Mine which has a planned production of 4Mtpa of run-of mine product. The mine infrastructure and beneficiation plant were established to meet the project aims of 2.2Mtpa of phosphate concentrate.
Engaged to carry out basic design on methods of underground mining of oil shales, transport to surface, crushing, screening, cleaning, dewatering, loading of shale concentrates and disposal of discards for an oil shale project in Estonia.
Carried out the planning of a backfilling plant and specification of the backfilling material for the radioactive waste deposit Morsleben to be erected in several subsequent phases. The plant shall be utilised to backfill the Morsleben deposit after the completion of disposal of waste. The plant consists of mixing, transportation and discharge installations with a capacity of 5,000 t/d of dry material.
Asked by Acerías Paz del Río to the assess actual dimensioning of the pillars and excavations of its El Uvo underground iron ore mine. Numerical models were generated and several mining methods were investigated using the finite-difference-program FLAC-2D. Calculation results were adjusted to underground observations.
